Our process

How we deliver faux finishes.

01

Inspiration

Bring photos, designer specs, or your own ideas — we discuss the look and the room.

02

Sample

We apply a sample on the wall (or a board) so you see it in your light.

03

Surface prep

Walls smoothed, primed, and base-coated — finish work is only as good as the surface under it.

04

Base coat

Tinted base coat applied as the foundation for the finish layers.

05

Finish layers

Glaze, wash, or texture applied by hand in layers.

06

Seal & protect

Optional protective topcoat where the finish needs to stand up to wear.

"Our designer specced a glazed strié in the dining room and Fenix nailed it. The room feels like it came out of a magazine."

FAQ

Common questions.

Modern faux finishes are very different from the late-90s sponge look — today's finishes are restrained, sophisticated, and designer-led. They're absolutely current.

Powder rooms, dining rooms, foyers, and accent walls in primary living spaces are popular. Anywhere you want a focal moment.

Faux finishes are typically paint-and-glaze layered on a normal painted wall. Venetian plaster is an actual plaster material troweled and burnished. Both are beautiful — different look and feel.

Touch-ups depend on the finish technique. Some are easily touched up; others are best refreshed in full. We discuss this during the consultation.
